While there are many films coming in 2025 that we can’t wait to see, one stands out above all others. Guillermo del Toro, the visionary director behind The Shape of Water, will bring Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Frankenstein to life.

Netflix has assembled an all-star cast for this highly anticipated adaptation. The cast includes Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina), Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge), and Mia Goth (the X franchise). Christoph Waltz is the latest star to join the cast.

Waltz is known for his captivating performances in films like Inglourious Basterds and Alita: Battle Angel. He will portray Dr. Pretorius, a character who seeks to continue the work of the original Dr. Frankenstein. Isaac is rumored to play the iconic monster, while Goth and Garfield’s roles remain undisclosed.

Del Toro’s passion for  Frankenstein is well-known. With his signature blend of gothic horror and fairy-tale wonder, del Toro is sure to deliver a truly unforgettable cinematic experience with the film, a passion project he has had his heart set on for decades.

“It’s a movie I have been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein.” say del Toro.

While there have been multiple Frankenstein films, del Toro refers to the most iconic adaptation from 1931, which stars Boris Karloff. Watch it now on Apple TV or YouTube.

As fans eagerly await more details about the project, it’s exciting to speculate on the possibilities. Could this be the beginning of a larger cinematic universe centered around Universal’s classic monsters? Only time will tell.
