Franchise star Vera Farmiga recently took to social media, revealing that The Conjuring: Last Rites has wrapped filming. The actress, who plays Lorraine Warren, shared a photo of her and fellow star Patrick Wilson. She reflected on their time playing husband and wife, a “match made in heaven” for “a hell of an error.”
“Roundabout 5000 days ago, this guy and I signed a WB contract and said ‘I do’ to embodying Ed and Lorraine Warren,” said Farmiga. “Today, he wraps. I have another 12 hours of laughter and insanity with him and then abruptly, he will walk off set, peel off sweat soaked demonologist garb, shave off his side burns, flash that dazzling smile and bid our fake marriage adieu. Yeah… I got them feels today. It was a match made in heaven, PWilz. A hell of an era. Here’s to 12 years. I cherish you, [Patrick Wilson].”
The Conjuring: Last Rites marks the fourth and final installment of the franchise, which began in 2013. Michael Chaves is directing. He also directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and The Nun II.
In the previous film, The Devil Made Me Do It, we witness a chilling story based on a real case. It begins with David, a possessed child. When the curse is transferred to Arne Johnson, he takes a life. Arne’s case is the first in US history to be pled as “not guilty by possession.” As he awaits his trial, things escalate, and the Warrens learn that someone is behind the curse that has unleashed the demon. That’s when we are introduced to the latest Conjuring Villain, “The Occultist,” played by Eugenie Bondurant, who discussed the film in our interview.
The Conjuring Universe has been a massive hit. The franchise, featuring eight films, includes The Conjuring, Annabelle, and Nun movies. It has brought in over $2.2 billion at the box office, making it one of the most popular horror franchises in history.
