The first full trailer for “Dexter: Original Sin” is here. It teases the origin story of our favorite serial killer. And we can’t wait for its December premiere to see Patrick Gibson as young Dexter.

“Original Sin” is set 15 years before the original “Dexter” series. It explores Dexter’s formative years in Miami, growing up in the early 1990s. During this time, he grapples with his dark urges while confiding in his father figure, Harry (Christan Slater). Harry, a homicide detective, instills Dexter’s infamous “Code” – a set of rules guiding him to target and eliminate those who escape the justice system.

The series will also see the return of Michael C. Hall, who has long played Dexter as the young man’s inner voice. However, thanks to the new trailer, fans are convinced Hall may be back in a bigger capacity. The trailer begins with the scene from the “Dexter: New Blood” season one finale, which finds the killer bleeding out in the snow. “It really is like they say, your life flashes before your eyes,” Hall says in a voiceover. The trailer cuts to Hall being rushed into the hospital as doctors fight to save him. We then get a taste of the new show. Young Dexter talks about the code he got from his father. We see Dexter’s first day on the job, and we watch as the trailer plays scenes featuring characters from the original series, only younger.

The trailer’s teasing of Dexter’s survival would be a great place to start and could fuel either “Dexter: Resurrection” or kick off the second season of “Dexter: New Blood.” Both series will reportedly premiere in 2025.

Molly Brown stars as Debra Morgan, Dexter’s beloved sister. Sarah Michelle Gellar will play CSI Chief Tanya Martin. Patrick Dempsey (Thanksgiving) stars as Aaron Spencer, Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide.

The cast includes Joe Pantoliano (“Chucky”) and Brittany Allen (What Keeps You Alive), along with Randy Gonzalez, Aaron Jennings, Raquel Justice, Jasper Lewis, and Carlo Mendez. Isaac Gonzalez Rossi and Roberto Sanchez round out the cast, as does James Martinez, who plays Angel Batista.

Dexter: Original Sin” will premiere on December 13 with ten blood-splattered episodes on Showtime/Paramount+.
