There’s one movie I have been desperately waiting to see all year: Robert Egger’s Nosferatu. Since its theatrical release is only weeks away, multiple collectibles are hitting the shelves. One item that has caught my attention is the soundtrack on vinyl. I’d like to share my thoughts now that I have gotten my claws on a copy. But first, let me tell you about the film.

In the film, Lily-Rose Depp’s Ellen wrestles with anguish as Orlok’s spell pulls her in. She seeks answers from Willem Dafoe’s Professor Von Franz, but is it too late? Meanwhile, bloodcurdling imagery and a city gripped by fear paint a vivid picture of the horror to come.

Nicholas Hoult stars as Ellen’s betrothed, Thomas, who is destined to be the first to encounter the ominous figure. Ralph InesonAaron Taylor-Johnson, and Emma Corrin round out the impressive cast.

Now, let’s talk about the soundtrack. The record has fantastic packaging. In the center of the front cover is Count Orlack’s insignia, which stands out with a glossy shine against the cover’s matte black and the film’s title in white gothic script. On the back, you will find a list of tracks, and there’s a lot of them, over 40 in fact, split between two records. When the case is opened, the image of a group of men carrying torches is inside. The inner case for the first record features Lily-Rose Depp on one side and a man covered by shadow on the other. I then focused on the other inner case that features Willem Defoe’s character. Finally, I pulled out the first record. I was pleasantly surprised to see a rich, blood-red vinyl, a fitting color for this soundtrack. The second looks the same.

Most tracks are a combination of dark and foreboding, rich and elaborate, soothing and chilling. Each stunning song will affect you differently. I would warn you not to fall asleep listening. It may trigger dreams of dark castles, unease, and terror, or you may find yourself dreaming of a romantic embrace in the arms of Count Orlok himself.

Music on the radio, CD, or other sources has its place, but when it comes to music like this, nothing is better than vinyl. Its little jumps and pops only add to the experience and unique sound. If you are a fan of vinyl, music, movies, or vampires, the Nosferatu soundtrack on vinyl by Robin Carolan is a must-have! It’s equally chilling and stunning. It’s proof that beauty can be found in the darkness. Order your copy of the Nosferatu Soundtrack on Vinyl now and witness Nosferatu in theaters on December 25, 2024.
