If you are lucky, you will remember the action-packed series “Grimm,” which ran from 2011 to 2017. According to Deadline, it’s currently in line for a reboot from Peacock.
The series centered on homicide detective Nicholas Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovers he is a Grimm, a guardian who protects humans and mythological creatures known as Wesen. Inspired by German lore, the original special effects-heavy series won fans with action and drama over 123 episodes.
The series also starred Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bitsie Tulloch, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee. There is no word yet on whether any of the original cast will return or make cameos.
While most details of the rebooted series remain under wraps, we know that the original series’ creative team, including showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, are attached as executive producers alongside Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television.
Josh Berman, the creator of the series Drop Dead Diva, has signed on to write the new Grimm. The report also mentions that the reboot could potentially “launch a franchise.” Word is that a film is also in the works as part of the franchise’s reboot. However, no details have been revealed about that at this point.
If you somehow missed it or want to re-watch the original “Grimm,” you can now stream all episodes on Peacock, Prime Video, Roku, and The CW. It’s also available on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Pictures.
