Get ready to enter the ring with Dark Match, a thrilling new horror film from Lowell Dean, the director of Wolf Cop. The new trailer has arrived ahead of its January release, teasing plenty of horror, wrestling, and cult intrigue.
This chilling tale follows a small-time wrestling company that accepts a lucrative gig in a remote backwoods town. The wrestlers soon discover that the community is under the sinister control of a mysterious cult leader with terrifying plans for their match. Wrestling turns very real as they find themselves in a fight for survival.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, including wrestling superstar Chris Jericho (Terrifier ), Ayisha Issa (“Transplant”), Steven Ogg (“The Walking Dead,” “Westworld”), Sara Canning (“The Vampire Diaries”), Michael Eklund (Antlers), and Jonathan Cherry (WolfCop).
“When I wrote Dark Match, I questioned if it was too crazy to get made, but within months I was on set in Edmonton, with a hard working cast and crew all pouring their (fake) blood and sweat in the wrestling ring to bring it to life,” says director Lowell Dean.
Karim Hussain (Infinity Pool, Possessor) is behind the film’s cinematography. Dark Match is produced by Dept. 9 Studios’ John K. MacDonald, Don Depoe, and Michael Feehan, as well as Michael Peterson and Rhonda Baker. Chris Jericho and Eleanor Wiebe serve as executive producers.
Get ready to experience the brutality of the ring as wrestlers go head to head when Dark Match releases exclusively on Shudder on January 31st.
