Prepare for a heart-pounding cinematic experience as Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgård, fresh from his chilling performance in Nosferatu, collide in Locked. The newly released trailer offers a tantalizing but suffocating preview of the panic-inducing ordeal awaiting Skarsgård’s character, Eddie.

Directed by David Yarovesky, the director behind the superhero horror film Brightburn, Locked promises a suspenseful and claustrophobic thriller. The trailer wastes no time in establishing the film’s tense atmosphere. It opens with Eddie cruising the streets, seemingly casing potential targets for theft. He stumbles upon a seemingly opportune target: a luxurious SUV with an unlocked door. This seemingly simple decision to steal the vehicle sets in motion a nightmarish scenario that will test Eddie’s limits.

Locked is a remake of the 2019 Argentinian film 4×4, written and directed by Mariano Cohn. The original film drew inspiration from Roberto Desumvila‘s real-life experiences. Frustrated by repeated car thefts and crime, Desumvila rigged a vehicle to trap would-be thieves, enabling him to apprehend and, presumably, punish them. This real-world inspiration adds a layer of chilling realism to the film’s premise.

The trailer for Locked effectively conveys the film’s tension. Eddie’s initial sense of opportunity quickly turns to dread as he realizes he’s trapped. The trailer hints at a psychological battle between Eddie and William (Hopkins), the owner of the SUV, who appears to be orchestrating Eddie’s torment. The power dynamic is clearly skewed, with William holding all the cards. The trailer cleverly avoids revealing too much of the plot, leaving the audience in suspense about the true nature of William’s motives and the extent of his plan.

Prepare to be on the edge of your seat. Watch the Locked trailer and experience the suffocating tension for yourself. Locked will be released in theaters nationwide on March 21, 2025.
