The epic saga of Dune continues its expansion! Warner Bros., in partnership with HBO and Legendary Entertainment, has announced that DUNE: PROPHECY: The Complete First Season will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD this May.
Fans of Frank Herbert’s universe can now own all six episodes of this highly anticipated HBO Original series. And over an hour of exclusive bonus content. This treasure trove of extras includes five extended featurettes and a brand-new, never-before-seen featurette exclusive to the physical release.
Set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY delves into the rich history of the Dune universe. Inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s novel SISTERHOOD OF DUNE, the series follows two Harkonnen sisters confronting forces that threaten humanity’s future and laying the foundation for the legendary Bene Gesserit sect.
The series boasts a stellar cast, including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, and Edward Davis. Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, and Barbara Marten round out the cast.
DUNE: PROPHECY is helmed by showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker. Diane Ademu-John, who co-developed the series, is also an executive producer. Anna Foerster executive produced and directed multiple episodes, including the premiere. The executive producers are Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts. Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert are the executive producers for the Frank Herbert estate, and Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer. The series is co-produced by HBO and Legendary Television, with Legendary also producing the acclaimed Dune film franchise.
The first episode of DUNE: PROPHECY has already achieved remarkable success, amassing approximately 15 million viewers across Max territories. The series has been greenlit for a second season at HBO, promising more captivating stories from the Dune universe.
