AMC Networks has announced the highly anticipated return of “The Walking Dead: Dead City.” Season two will premiere this May. Watch the opening minutes of the eight-episode season below.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan return to their roles as Negan and Maggie this season. “The Walking Dead: Dead City” follows the unlikely duo navigating a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Isolated from the mainland, the island is a decaying urban landscape teeming with both the undead and the resourceful inhabitants who have carved out a brutal existence. This crumbling metropolis uniquely blends anarchy, danger, beauty, and sheer terror.
Season two intensifies the conflict for control of Manhattan. Maggie and Negan find themselves on opposing sides of a growing war. Their paths inevitably converge, forcing them to confront the reality that their escape is far more complex and perilous than they initially imagined. However, as the lines between allies and enemies blur, they must navigate treacherous alliances to survive.
The series features a talented ensemble cast. Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Mahina Anne Marie Napoleon, Lisa Emery, Logan Kim, Dascha Polanco, and Kim Coates join Morgan and Cohan. Eli Jorné, a seasoned writer and co-executive producer from “The Walking Dead,” serves as showrunner and executive producer. Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe, also executive produces alongside Cohan, Morgan, Brian Bockrath, Michael Satrazemis, and Colin Walsh.
“Dead City” has proven to be a resounding success for AMC Networks. The first episode of season one became AMC+’s #1 season premiere of all time. Furthermore, viewership steadily increased throughout season one, demonstrating the series’ strong audience engagement.
Return to the gritty streets of Manhattan when “The Walking Dead: Dead City” season two premieres on Sunday, May 4th at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. Watch the first scene of the premiere below.
