From director Matthew Holmes (The Legend Of Ben Hall, The Cost) comes Fear Below, a thriller that takes the tried-and-true shark attack horror formula and throws it back to the perilous, shark-infested waters of 1940s Australia. The official trailer has just dropped. It promises a unique blend of historical setting and aquatic terror.

The movie plunges us into 1940s Australia, where a team of professional divers is hired to locate a sunken car in a river. However, their efforts are quickly thwarted by a deadly bull shark aggressively hunting in the murky waters. This sets the stage for a tense and claustrophobic underwater nightmare.

But the danger doesn’t just come from below. The divers discover they are working for ruthless criminals trying to recover their stolen gold bullion. They prove to be just as treacherous as what lurks beneath the surface. So, it’s not just sharks they must worry about – they’re caught between a deadly predator and even deadlier humans.

The film stars Hermione Corfield (Sea Fever), Will Fletcher (The Rings of Power), Jake Ryan (Wyrmwood: Apocalypse), Clayton Watson (Matrix Revolutions), and Josh McConville (Elvis). Kevin Dee, Sam Parsonson, Jacob Nayingul , and Arthur Angel round out the cast.

Blue Fox Entertainment’s James Huntsman expressed his excitement for the film, stating, “’Fear Below’ delivers a fresh and unique take on the shark genre. We are thrilled we found the right movie that will take audiences on an unexpected journey into the water.”

Fear Below is set to release in Australia on July 2nd for those down under. However, there’s no word yet on when U.S. audiences can expect to dive into this historical shark thriller. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on a potential stateside release—this one sounds like a fin-tastically different take on a classic shark attack trope!
