Looks like some secrets refuse to stay buried! Sony has dropped the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel to the 1997 slasher classic, I Know What You Did Last Summer.

A Killer Cast and Crew

Get ready for more suspense, more scares, and the return of some familiar faces because franchise OGs Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are officially back as Julie James and Ray Bronson, reprising their iconic roles from the first two films!

This new I Know What You Did Last Summer is helmed by director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sam Lansky, building upon an original draft by Robinson and Leah McKendrick. Of course, the original novel’s author, Lois Duncan, created the characters.

This fourth installment in the I Know What You Did Last Summer saga will drag you back into the world where a hook-wielding killer stalks a group of friends after a deadly hit-and-run accident.

A fresh batch of potential victims joins Hewitt and Prinze Jr. for this new chapter. The cast includes Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, and rising star Lola Tung. Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King, and Billy Campbell also appear.

A Long Road Back

The journey to this sequel started back in late 2022 when Leah McKendrick and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson pitched their vision. Original producer Neal H. Moritz is also back on board to help bring this new nightmare to life.

There was also a casting change along the way. Camila Mendes was slated initially to star but stepped away from the project due to scheduling conflicts with Amazon MGM’s upcoming Masters of the Universe film.

So, if you’ve been waiting with bated breath for more hook-handed horror and the return of Julie and Ray, your patience will be rewarded soon. Get ready to uncover new secrets and face old fears when I Know What You Did Last Summer resurfaces! Just remember, some things are better left buried… but this sequel isn’t one of them.
