Saddle up for a western that’s about to go way off the beaten trail! Shout! Studios is moseying into town with Killing Faith, a genre-bending flick. Just a heads-up, the MPAs slapped an “R” rating on this one, so it ain’t your grandpa’s cowboy story.
What’s with the “R”? Well, word on the dusty plains is it’s for “Strong violent content, grisly images, drug use, sexual assault, and some language.” Yep, sounds like this ain’t your typical Sunday matinee at the ol’ saloon.
Killing Faith has got some serious star power hitched to its wagon. We’re talkin’ the always captivating Guy Pearce and the incredibly talented DeWanda Wise in the lead. But hold your horses, there’s more! Bill Pullman, Raoul Trujillo, Jamie Neumann, Jack Alcott, Joanna Cassidy, and Emily Ford are all along for this wild ride.
So, what’s the skinny on Killing Faith? It’s being described as “a cinematic, genre-bending western, mixing action and suspense against a plague-ridden landscape.” The movie has also been teased to feature supernatural aspects.
Deadline rustled up some more details, saying Guy Pearce plays Dr. Bender, a doc who’s lost his way but agrees to guide a desperate mother (DeWanda Wise) and her daughter, who may be possessed, across a harsh desert. This mama’s heart is set on reaching a remote preacher-physician (Bill Pullman), hoping to cure her daughter’s mysterious sickness.
If you’re tryin’ to figure out what kinda ride this is gonna be, the folks at Shout! Studios describe it like this: “You haven’t seen a Western like this.”
It sounds like Killing Faith will be a gritty, suspenseful, and maybe even a bit dark twist on the Western we all know. Keep your ears to the ground for when this genre-bending adventure hits our screens! We’ll keep you posted.
