The moment horror and gothic fantasy fans have been dreaming of is finally upon us: the teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is officially ALIVE!

The visionary Academy Award-winning filmmaker shared his deep connection to the project with the audience via Netflix’s Tatum news site to celebrate the teaser release.

“This is, for me, the culmination of a journey that has occupied most of my life. I first read Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein as a kid and saw Boris Karloff in what became for me an almost religious state. Monsters have become my personal belief system,” del Toro passionately stated.

He further elaborated on how the iconic story has influenced his entire career: “There are strands of Frankenstein throughout my films — Cronos, Blade, Hellboy, big time on Pinocchio, and a long, long et cetera. Exploring the relationship between humanity and monsters, creator and creation, father and son, has consumed my stores again and again. I wanted to make this film before even I had a camera, and I’ve been actively pursuing it now for over 25 years. It has grown so close to me that now it’s biography. And tonight, here, finally, we can share it with you.”

A Star-Studded Cast Brings the Classic to Life

Del Toro’s Frankenstein will follow the tragic tale of brilliant but egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein, who, through a monstrous experiment, brings a creature to life. This act ultimately leads to the undoing of both the ambitious creator and his tragic creation.

The film boasts an incredible cast to embody these legendary roles. Oscar Isaac (Dune) stars as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi (Saltburn) as Frankenstein’s monster. They are joined by Mia Goth (MaXXXine) and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds). Rounding out this stellar ensemble are Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front), Lars Mikkelsen (“Ahsoka”), David Bradley (Harry Potter), Christian Convery (“Sweet Tooth”), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”).

When you hear that Guillermo del Toro has directed a film, you know it’s going to be amazing. The three-time Oscar winner has consistently proven his talent with incredible and moving films, including Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Pinocchio, and Hellboy. He also delivered the series “Cabinet of Curiosities” and “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” I could go on, but to put it simply, the writer-director is absolutely brilliant.

Mark your calendars! Frankenstein is set to arrive on Netflix this November. Prepare for a haunting and visually stunning new take on a timeless monster. Watch the teaser trailer now.
