Isabelle Fuhrman has officially returned as the chilling Esther for Orphan 3. And filming for the third installment in the franchise, currently titled Orphans, is already underway!
Fuhrman, who originated the role in Jaume Collet-Serra’s 2009 film Orphan, reprised it for the wild 2022 prequel Orphan: First Kill. Recently, she teased that the new movie will be “wilder and crazier.”
The team behind the successful prequel is back to usher in this next terrifying chapter. That includes Orphan: First Kill’s writer, David Coggeshall (The Family Plan), who penned the screenplay. Orphan: First Kill’s director, William Brent Bell (The Boy franchise), is back in the director’s chair.
Dark Castle Entertainment is once again handling the production, ensuring the film maintains the twisted spirit of the previous installments.
The Orphan saga centers on Esther. She is not the innocent child she appears to be. She is a violent 33-year-old adult woman with a rare hormonal disorder that gives her the appearance of a young girl. In the original 2009 film, a couple adopts the nine-year-old Esther, only to realize the sinister truth as her homicidal tendencies surface. The 2022 prequel saw Esther orchestrate a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility, then travel to America and successfully impersonate the missing daughter of a wealthy family.
While plot details for Orphans are currently being kept tightly under wraps, the franchise’s history promises more shocking twists regarding Esther’s age, identity, and lethal schemes.
