Horror Dadz Productions has officially dropped the first look and debut trailer for its upcoming found-footage feature, No Witnesses.
It captures the claustrophobic lens of discovered videotapes. The film plunges audiences into the ominous, real-time chronicle of Hannah Jones’s fictional disappearance. Capturing the unsettling events leading up to the recovery of her footage.
Isolation, Dread, and Rural Terror
The newly surfaced look offers a glimpse into the suffocating atmosphere surrounding Hannah. It tracks an escalating sense of dread that anchors the narrative. Set against the desolate backdrop of rural Watseka, Illinois, the production weaponizes the isolation of a remote farmhouse to exploit a raw sense of insecurity.
The film stars Berkeley Slightom alongside Horror Dadz alumni Hunter Nino and Otis B. Dreds.
A Personal Journey into Darkness
Director Joshua Brucker noted that the project stems from a deeply personal, darker place. He explained that the story follows a protagonist reflecting his own battles with intense adversity, though Hannah ultimately trades one form of danger for another. Also, Bruckner emphasized that the team set out to embrace the core strength of the found-footage subgenre. They are aiming for a visceral experience. One where viewers feel less like they are watching a scripted horror film and more like they have stumbled upon forbidden, authentic video.
“No Witnesses comes from a very personal, dark place for me,” said Joshua Brucker, the director of the film. “It follows someone who is very much like myself, who has battled a great amount of adversity. Instead, for Hannah, she replaced one danger for another. We also wanted to embrace what makes found footage so effective; making the audience feel like they aren’t watching a horror movie, but that they’ve somehow discovered something they were never supposed to see.”
The Vanishing of Hannah Jones
The overarching mystery centers on the fictional vanishing of Hannah Jones on August 4, 2024, in rural Illinois. However, despite exhaustive ground searches and extensive interviews with her family and friends, Hannah was never recovered. With local authorities left without leads, suspects, physical evidence, or witnesses, the recovered footage remains the sole window into her final hours.
Independent Horror with an Immersive Edge
The release underlines Horror Dadz Productions’ ongoing focus on independent genre cinema and immersive, chaotic storytelling. With this, horror fans can preview the unraveling mystery ahead of its premiere. The producers are currently pursuing distribution opportunities for the film’s full release.
