In 2017, the indie horror What the Waters Left Behind debuted, receiving much love from the horror community. It’s been a year since its sequel, What the Waters Left Behind: Scars, was announced. Today the July release date has finally been revealed. Niclas Onetti returned to direct the sequel, written by Camilio Zaffora. David Michigan, Mario Alarcon, Magui Bravi, and German Baudino star. “The sequel tells the story of an Anglo-American indie rock band stranded in the desolate city of Epecuén. Robert Pattinson stars in Oscar-nominated director Adam McKay’s upcoming star-studded movie Average Height, Average Build, for Netflix. The Batman actor will star alongside Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker, Amy Adams, and Danielle Deadwyler. According to Deadline, in the film, Pattinson’s serial killer hires a lobbyist to change laws so he can easily get away with his murders. Meanwhile, a retired police officer will not stop until he puts the killer behind bars. The killer becomes a hero in Washington while hiding his true motives. Adams will play the lobbyist, while Downey is the retired police officer. McKay wrote the script, directs, and is producing under his Hyperobject Industries banner along with Kevin Missick. The filming of the black comedy Average Height, Average Build is set to begin in Boston later this summer. This June, Hulu’s new horror-thriller Jagged Mind, from director Kelley Kali, sees a woman plagued by visions and a sense of reliving her days over and over. Director David Gordon Green (Halloween) has now shared a message from behind the scenes of his upcoming film, The Exorcist: Believer, via the Blumhouse YouTube channel. The new installment, the first of a new trilogy, will be led by Tony and Grammy award winner Leslie Odom Jr. (“Hamilton”) and Ellen Burstyn, who will reprise her iconic role of Chris MacNeil from the 1973 original directed by William Friedkin. In Believer, “Odom Jr. will play the father of a possessed child.
