“They all float down here”

Although I wasn’t born when the original IT hit theaters, I mostly definitely grew up in horror movie loving family so word got around. The new Pennywise when first talked up seemed to me like a great idea but frankly I was skeptical on how the character was going to look (I even went as far as too try and find out before the reveal!). We recently reported Pennywise’s new look and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. I like how they didn’t try to make a new actor walk in the footsteps of Tim Curry, by letting the costume be totally different. Thumbs up IT 2017…so far.

But here’s something of interest: As of recently the Duffer Brothers (behind Netflix’s Stranger Things) revealed at one point they wanted to make the flick and Producer on the flick Dan Lin said IT would be LIKE Stranger Things in a way. This is a lot to take in. So how about I delve into this with you?

The Duffer bros had an interview with THR on the first month. The bros chatted 1980’s films, book and Stephen King. During the interview the interviewer brought up IT and if the brothers would ever have considered helming the remake. Ross Duffer, speaking on his and his brother’s behalf then shot back with “Absolutely, because we asked to do it”. This then ignited the interviewer and the brothers to discuss why they didn’t do it and what they would have done with it. Bottom line is Warner Bros. turned them down because they didn’t had enough credits.

Flash-forward a bit better than a week later a Collider reporter at the CW TSA presentation for the upcoming series Frequency asked Dan Lin (who serves as Producer on the IT remake) what we could expect from IT? Cause’ I mean that’s what we’re all thinking, right?

The Collider reporter claimed the producer revealed the remake will somewhat be like the Stranger Things’ series. In the nature of both projects pay homage to the 1980’s.

Further into the interview the producer is revealed to have boasted the new Loser Club members are as of recently just being united with the iconic clown “We’ve spent a few months getting the kids to bond and now they’re going to fight this evil, scary clown.”

That was of course before Lin praised Bill Skarsgard for his audition for the role, but also while during pointed fun at the Hemsgrove actor as being clown-like in general. “His build is really interesting. he’s really tall and lanky, and feels a little clown like in his movement. When he came in — we had a lot of different actors read, and when he came in he had a different spin on the character that got us really excited. You’ve had Heath Ledger doing almost a clown joker, you’ve seen obviously Tim Curry as a clown. We wanted someone who created a Pennywise character that would stand on its own and Bill came in and created this character that frankly freaked us out.”

IT is said to star Finn Wolfhard, Owen Teague, Jaeden Lieberher, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Jack Grazer and Jackson Robert Scott. The first part of the two-part film will be released on September 8th, 2017.
