Spawn has had a difficult time making it to the big screen in years past, but with producing powerhouse Blumhouse given the reigns, the chances of seeing everyones favorite vigilante demon on the big screen is higher than ever. With a script from original Spawn Comic Writer Todd McFarlane, this could be the hard R big budget film Spawn fans have been waiting for.
While there was a previous film adaptation released in ’97 it’s probably best left in the dustbin of history. The HBO animated series, which ran for a few years in the late 90’s, was better, but still not the balls to the wall live action gore fest that fans crave. Another animated series, revealed back in ’09, has yet to be released at all.
Blumhouse is more well known for their tightly budgeted and independent films than comic book blockbusters, so here’s hoping they give Spawn the attention to detail it deserves. Because if there’s anything the world doesn’t need, its another mediocre Spawn adaptation.
