Halloween is around the corner but unfortunately, it’s in 2020 and unless you’ve been in another dimension, living in a cave far from civilization, or visiting from another planet, we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Most places around the country are in talks right now about HOW or IF there will be a Halloween this year as public health is a growing concern as cases of Covid-19 are starting to rise back up across the country.
With what’s going on, Halloween does not need to be canceled, just modified and the only good news about it this year is that it’s on a Saturday!
With that working in favor of parents or those who get weekends off, the opportunity to have a fun and safe Halloween at home. For most, many have already come up with some ideas of how to do it at home but some folks may need a helpful push in the right direction, well here at Horror Fuel its Halloween 24/7 and we’re here to help give you ideas to help make Halloween 2020 fun and memorable for you, your family, and friends.
STOCK UP ON CANDY (FOR YOURSELF!!)
True it sounds a bit harsh but this opens up a lot of opportunity for ideas (and goes hand in hand with other ideas on this list) to make this year’s Halloween interesting. The best part of this idea is that you get the candy YOU like and you don’t have to share unless you have some little ghouls at home then you probably should get their favorites as well unless you want a rebellion on your hands.
CANDY HUNT
Instead of taking the little gremlins out Trick-Or-Treating, take a bit of inspiration from Easter, and have a candy hunt! On Amazon, they actually do sell Halloween Easter eggs if you want to go all out and fancy but I think anyone would enjoy just finding a bunch of goodies inside their jack-o-lantern after a “treasure hunt”.
ALL DAY DRESSUP
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so why not wear a Halloween costume the whole day?! Of course pick your outfit wisely if you or your little creatures of the night plan on doing this as some outfits might not work out as you may think.
HORROR MOVIE MARATHON
I mean, c’mon, this is my Halloween every year! I either spend the whole night watching horror movies or playing horror video games. Obviously parents use your digression and find something child friendly, you want this to be a fun memory.
INDOOR FUNHOUSE
Turn your place into a funhouse for yourself and whoever else lives with you! Spook yourself with creepy décor, put on an ambiance soundtrack, I strongly recommend you check out Atmos FX for some awesome special effects you can do at home, who knows, you may even entertain the neighbors!
CAMPFIRE
Nothing beats a good ‘ol fashion campfire and nothing is better than telling ghost stories around one! The only downside is that this has is if you can have a fire where you are or not as well as being at the mercy of mother nature as fire does not seem to work well in the rain. You can easily substitute a real fire with a bunch of battery-operated candles or one of those LED silk fire pits.
BAKE-O-THON
Create some interesting twists on some classics using Halloween Candy Or use recipes that can be found online to create fiendish delights! My personal recipe is a twist on the classic S’more, substitute plain chocolate with cut up snickers bars! Just be warned that if you use the microwave method of making the S’mores, let the candy bar substitutes cool down first as some of the candy insides hold their heat for a while!
These are just some ideas to help jumpstart your own creativity! That’s the best part about Halloween is being creative and making it your own and this year’s Halloween is yours for the taking, Happy Halloween!
