The adventure into Tabletop RPGs continues for me, and I’m starting to get into the concept of world-building. By world-building, I’m talking from a terrain-building point of view. The most important part of creating your world is Basing, this is when you make the base for your character or base for props more lively with decorations. The most common method is adding grass or texture to your base, but sometimes, you need to add a little more oomph to tell the story. This is where Epic Basing comes in! First, I would like to thank all the awesome folks at Epic Basing for making this adventure possible!
Epic Basing makes 3D-printed bits that you can use to add some flare to your miniature’s base OR to the terrane you’re creating. In the main picture returns the Werewolf miniature from 1985 Games but this time, he has a little friend on his base, a skull that came from the Skull Collector pack. The base the Werewolf is on has a couple of Dark Forest Trees with one having a couple of Thorn Bushes at it’s base while the other has a couple of Oozing Mushrooms.
You don’t necessarily have to have these bits permanently glued to your pieces, they can be used as props like I did with the Iron Maiden from Wizkids Miniatures. I used a mix of bones from The Bone Collector and Battlefield Bones to get the point across that this is a foreboding scene. Epic Basing was also awesome enough to send some Alien Tentacles, Alien Creep, and Candles & Candelabras.
Working with these Basing bits was a lot of fun thanks to all the stories filling my head as I worked with them that helped me create scenarios they would be used in or to add to existing scenes/bases I already made. The best part for all of you with 3D Printers is you can buy STL files of the bits if the already printed ones are not available in the store, and the best part is the STL files are always being updated.
