11 Bit Studios and Odd Meter, will be taking players on a journey through a parallel 19th-century Russia as an Orthodox Nun named INDIKA the title character in the upcoming 3rd-person narrative adventure.
In INDIKA, players assume the role of the titular nun, Indika, embarking on a mind-bending journey to explore the duality of good and evil and the understanding that nothing is absolute. A third-person perspective adventure game, blending exploration with environmental puzzles and a touch of platforming. However, steeped in themes of sin, sorrow, and moral dilemmas.
The story of INDIKA does not end there, the story of its Developers, Odd Meter, is quite mindblowing as well! Odd Meter is a 16-person team from Russia, who had to uproot their lives and flee to Kazakhstan after Russia invaded Ukraine. Even before the war, Odd Meter was in talks with 11 Bit about doing INDIKA, and at the time Odd Meter was already risking their freedom as the topic of the story of INDIKA would be enough to get them prosecuted as the game questions the authority of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Nowadays, it has become especially obvious how relevant the topics raised in our game are. Many problems of today’s Russia lie in the socio-political infantilism that has been hammered into its citizens over the centuries: humility, obedience, and patience are the main virtues imposed by our orthodox culture. So it’s not surprising that institutions such as the Russian Orthodox Church have recently become one of the primary weapons of propaganda, calling on parishioners to die for their homeland, and preaching a monstrous indifference to one’s own and other people’s lives.” – Dmitry Svetlow, Game Director and Founder at Odd Meter
To stand by their convictions, Odd Meter and 11 Bit will donate parts of the sales of INDIKA to charities that help children affected by the war in Ukraine.
INDIKA will be coming out in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X/S.
