Today (Friday) a lawsuit was filed by a Background Actor, the proper title for “Extra”, against A24 and director Ti West for wrongful termination, and actress Mia Goth for battery that resulted in him getting a concussion.
The background actor, James Hunter, was cast as “Dead Parishioner” for MaXXXine, the third installment in the X trilogy. Hunter’s role involved him lying on the ground covered in fake blood with Goth running past him or stepping over him. During one take Goth’s foot got a bit too close for Hunter’s comfort and he passed his concern on to the second assistant director who then informed Goth. On the fifth take, it is claimed that Goth ran past Hunter and in the process, deliberately kicked him in the head.
Hunter claims that after the take, while he was in the bathroom, Goth came in and began to mock and taunt him as well as “belittle” him and dared him to complain. Hunter also alleged that the fake blood he was covered in dried to his costume, causing pain when he removed it.
The following day, the casting agency notified Hunter that he was no longer wanted/needed on set, he was hired for three days of shooting but only completed one.
