Calling all fans of retro shooters (or Boomer Shooters as they’re calling them now), Nightdive Studios is back with another classic game remastered for the modern gamer, this time with Killing Time: Resurrected! Originally released back in 1995, the game features FMVs and updated graphics.

Killing Time: Resurrected takes players to the estate of wealthy heiress Tess Conway. Tess acquired an ancient Egyptian artifact called the Water Clock, which she used in a ritual to bestow eternal life. Still, it backfires, and she and her high-society friends vanish without a trace and flood the island her estate is on with zombies.

Now, onto the game itself! Controls for Killing Time: Resurrected can be a bit difficult at first since there’s no tutorial, back in the day when you bought games for PC like this, you would have a booklet that would have all the controls laid out for you to see, since this does not happen much anymore, there really could have been a specially made tutorial level, but you can still look up the controller layout in the options.

The updated graphics, along with the option to have the original graphics, give Killing Time: Resurrected a nice nostalgic feel for us gaming vets from the 90s. the look of the enemies along with the FMV actors looks great after so much time!

The sound is great and I love the original soundtrack being used along with the opportunity to check out the “Vault” at the start menu where you can access the Jukebox and listen to the songs from the game. I’ll admit, some of these songs are toe-tappers!

Gameplay-wise, you explore the game’s map and levels where you encounter enemies and shoot them. Some areas may have puzzles to solve to help you venture further in the story as well as find hidden passages. You can encounter a ghost of Tess saying “Help Me!” and when you go to where she was, this will trigger the FMV that will give you a look at the past leading up to the events of the game.

With its nostalgic trip, fun gameplay, fun soundtrack, and cartoonish mix of graphics, Killing Time: Resurrected is a fun game to play no matter what generation you’re from. On my scale of 1-10, I give it a 9.5 as it could have used a tutorial system.

Killing Time: Resurrected is out now for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
