At The MIX Spring Showcase, Nightdive Studios announced that the critically acclaimed 1996 point-and-click horror adventure I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream will be released on consoles. Nightdive already released the game twelve years ago for modern PCs but this will be the game’s first ever journy on console.
I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is based on the story of the same title by Harlan Ellison, where all but five humans on the planet are wiped out after the third world war. The five humans are being cared for by an AI supercomputer called AM. I highly recomend reading the story as AM makes Skynet look like an atari game system with it’s cruelty.
Players will get to play as each human victim, who is subjected to a personalized psychodrama designed by AM to explore their greatest fears and feelings of guilt. Players go through each character’s personalized scenario, discovering the truth about each of their pasts and why AM chose to keep them alive and prolong their suffering. Whether they have the strength to overcome his games and face their demons…well, that’s for the player to decide.
I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is a fully voice-acted experience, upping the immersion and giving the horrors taking place even more impact. Additionally, AM, the megalomaniacal all-powerful techno god, is voiced by Harlan Ellison himself.
I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream will be coming out March 27th for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
