So what do you get when you cross Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Parkour, and Masscot Horror? You get SUPERLOU and Perp Games’ Finding Frankie, a twist on the masscot horror genre where you must use parkour to survive. I want to thank SUPERLOU and Perp Games for sending over a copy for me to check out!

Finding Frankie puts players in the running shoes of a lucky winner who won a chance to partake in a competition at Frankie’s Parkour Palace, the world’s largest indoor pool, trampoline, and parkour park. As you guessed, something goes wrong as the masscots are no longer acting like their cartoon personas, and now you have to run for your life.

Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls for Finding Frankie, I found that the tutorial level needs work, and the prompts need to be made a lot clearer, especially when it comes to having to jump and grab a bar to swing. Soundwise, the sound effects are pretty good. A nice addition of voice acting is always a plus. The soundtrack is awesome!

I have to say, for being part of the masscot horror genre, which is notorious for looking cheap in the art department, the art in Finding Frankie is surprisingly good, especially in the cinimatics.

When it comes to gameplay, in some areas, you have to explore and have to activate fuse boxes to unlock doors, most of these are timed with several other boxes to be activated. Some areas are parkour levels where you must complete the stage without drawing out Frankie (by landing in the out-of-bounds zone), so there’s some stealth involved as well.

Overall, though, I’m not impressed with Finding Frankie. I have to give it some props since, from my understanding, the game was made by one person as this looks like more care was put into it than some of the more popular masscot horror games out there now. On my scale of 1-10, I give Finding Frankie a 7 as some of the parkour moments could use some polishing to help prevent repetition.

Finding Frankie is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
