Keep the lights on as filmmakers John Shackleton (Panic Button, The Sleeping Room) and Andy Bourne unveil a gripping new YouTube series exploring the UK’s most haunted locations.
The Supernatural UK is a candid, fly-on-the-wall paranormal investigation series that brings a fresh, unfiltered approach to one of the world’s most enduring mysteries. Do ghosts exist? Can we communicate with them? What are they – and what do they want?
Across ten episodes, The Supernatural UK investigates castles, prisons, museums and warehouses, teaming up with different groups of investigators to reveal their tools, techniques, and unique philosophies. From poltergeists and sinister dolls to a shape-shifting goblin and even the spirit of a medieval pervert, the series captures moments that range from chilling to surreal – all of which are experienced as they happened, with no scripting, no staging, and no filters.
Shackleton is an observing presence throughout the series, immersing viewers as deeply into the investigations as he is, with support from experts Justin Cowell, Diane Chambers, Craig Williams, Katie Goodland, Dr Kate Cherrell, Rachel Hayward, Kim Morgan, John Wright, Karin Beasant, Lorien Jones, Kate Ray, Lisa Holman and Amy Cox, with a special guest appearance from seasoned paranormal investigator Kev Kerr.
Shackleton commentated: “The Supernatural UK is unscripted and rooted in real-time investigation. With no agenda, no staged scares, and no exaggerated claims, the series offers a rare balance of critical enquiry and emotional truth – delivering eerie, often profound encounters with the unknown through a lens of documentary realism and cinematic craft. Our mission is to explore the unexplained with integrity, curiosity, and authenticity – capturing genuine moments of mystery while allowing viewers to draw their own conclusions”.
Episodes will be released weekly at 7pm from Monday 21st July. There are three strands running over the ten weeks – ATTRACTIONS, SOMERSET and WARWICK CASTLE.
Strand 1: Attractions
In its debut three-part series, The Supernatural UK ventures into the world of spooky business attractions. Investigators spend the night at three notorious locations: The Museum of Curiosities in Nottingham, The Savoy Theatre in Monmouth) and Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein in Bath. What they uncover challenges even the most skeptical minds and raises new questions about the fine line between legend and reality.
Part 1: Museum of Curiosities (Nottingham) – Objects That Move
Cursed, possessed, or simply haunted? Paranormal investigators Diane Chambers and Justin Cowell attempt to unravel the mysteries behind the objects inside Nottingham’s Museum of Curiosities. Crammed with unsettling dolls and peculiar artifacts, the museum has long been a hotspot for unexplainable activity. But when they witness dolls moving on their own and hear inexplicable whispers in the cellar cave, one question becomes impossible to ignore – who, or what, is trying to communicate with them? And could they be standing face-to-face with a living doll?
Part 2: The Savoy Theatre (Monmouth) – The Phantom Performer
As Storm Éowyn rages outside, paranormal investigators Craig Williams and Amy Cox spend a night inside Wales’ oldest theatre, seeking answers to the ghostly legends. The tragic fall of a woman from the upper tier, the ominous shadow seen lingering in seat 4D – these are just some of the eerie accounts they set out to validate. But as they push deeper into the theatre’s haunted past, a presence begins to make its displeasure known. Are they merely chasing shadows, or have they become unwilling participants in a ghostly drama?
Part 3: House of Frankenstein (Bath) – Cursed Experiments
In a world-first investigation, paranormal experts Katie Crouch and Kev Kerr, alongside historians Lorien Jones and Karin Beasant, delve into the eerie mysteries of a 300-year-old townhouse – now home to The House of Frankenstein. Staff whisper of disembodied voices, objects hurling themselves across rooms, and chilling encounters with unseen forces. Visitors report being pushed on the stairs and forcibly ejected from rooms by an invisible presence. Could there be a true monster lurking within these walls, or is something even more sinister at play?
