Walton Goggins has officially stepped back into the irradiated skin of Cooper Howard, and a fresh set of leaks from “Fallout Season 3” offer an intriguing peek at his evolving Wasteland wardrobe.
Fans spotted Goggins near the set sporting his signature prosthetic makeup, cattleman’s hat, and a blue button-down shirt. Stripped of his battered overcoat, the appearance sparked immediate debate over whether the Gunslinger is getting an upgraded ensemble or simply shedding heavy outerwear due to a desert heatwave.
Notably, the weathered blue shirt strongly resembles an aged, 200-year-old iteration of the Sheriff costume Cooper wore to a children’s birthday party on the fateful day the bombs dropped in 2077.
Further set photos showing a double riding a horse in pristine pre-apocalypse cowboy gear strongly suggest Season 3 will continue to delve into the Ghoul’s tragic past.

Salt Lake Pitstops and Meta Wasteland Cinema
Production recently took over the historic Fox Theatre in Pomona, California. It doubles as a desolate Salt Lake City movie palace. A set video caught the Ghoul in full leather-clad glory approaching the theater’s burnt-out entrance, where old-world attendants ushered him inside.
Injecting a bit of dark meta humor into the setting, there is an in-universe movie poster for a film titled Through the Eyes of the Devil. It features Goggins’ ghoulish image plastered across it, billed as “The Gool.”

Uncovering the Enclave and the Immediate Post-Bomb Panic
This backdrop fits the narrative arc established in the Season 2 finale, in which Cooper uncovered empty Vault-Tec cryopods beneath New Vegas. However, the pods were empty. Clues point to his wife and daughter being held in Colorado. So, a pit stop in Salt Lake City makes geographical sense for a trek from Nevada to Colorado. However, the persistent presence of prewar outfits hints at deeper thematic implications.
Earlier seasons showcased the initial chaos of the nuclear strikes on Los Angeles. But season 3 appears poised to finally reveal what happened to his wife, Barb, and his daughter, Janey. The shadowy Enclave likely plays a pivotal role in their separation.
The upcoming season of Prime Video’s hit video game adaptation looks set to mix cross-country bounty hunting with long-overdue origin answers when the series returns to screens.
A Long Road Ahead
So far, sources say fans will have to wait a while to see the next season. It’s being reported that season three won’t premiere on Prime Video until late 2027. That would put it at nearly two years since season 2 hit.
