Time for a palate cleanser! True, this may not be horror, but I just found out about this game and had to check it out. I’m a sucker for in game photagraphy OR Photomode if you will. If a game has it, I’ll play with it. hell, some of the games I’ve reviewed in the past, I used the game’s photomode to get the pictures for the review. But a game that’s basically photomode, exploration, and learning how to take pictures (I do like to do some nature photography from time to time), sign me up! I want to thank Matt Newell and Annapurna Interactive for sending over a copy of Lushfoil Photography Sim for me to experience!

Lushfoil Photography Sim is a walking and photography simulator where players explore real-world locations and take photographs with a DSLR camera, as well as learning how to use the functions on these kinds of cameras and other picture-taking techniques that can be used in actual photography.

Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls for Lushfoil Photography Sim, players should allow themselves time to get familiar with it, especially when it comes to the controls for the camera, as there are a lot of features. Thankfully, there is quite an involved tutorial system you can call upon and find in the game’s world.

The soundtrack matches the game’s overall tone, mellow, I love it! The ambient world is pleasant on the ears too, so I strongly suggest using headphones, even if you just want this playing in the background as you’re doing other work, go for it!

I love the graphics and art of Lushfoil Photography Sim, especially the lighting engine, as it allows you to take some nice pictures using shadows and natural lighting to your advantage.

When it comes to gameplay, players are just dropped off, and from there, they can start exploring. As you explore, each level has its own hidden trophies you can find to help unlock other levels. There are places where you can find a map showing you what pictures you should take from certain locations on the map, which, when completed, allows you to get a key to unlock a part of the level where you can explore more and change the lighting and weather of that level. The main picture of the review shows the level in Italy after I unlocked a snowy scenery.

Also, in each level, you can find old cameras that allow you to take unique pictures as well. The picture of the Tori Gates in Japan was taken with a classic camera that allowed double exposure.

Overall, I loved Lushfoil Photography Sim! This is a nice game to just mellow out to if you feel like gaming but just want to relax, also it’s the perfect game for anyone who is really into photography, OR wants to get into it. The only complaint I have about the game is that I wish there were a way to edit your pictures. Other than that, Lushfoil Photography Sim is an amazing game and is a well-deserved 10/10 from me!

Lushfoil Photography Sim is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
