The hit supernatural mystery series “Wednesday“ is officially one step closer to its television return. Netflix announced today that principal photography for Season 3 has concluded. Led by star Jenna Ortega in the iconic title role, the next chapter continues the franchise’s massive success, which remains the most-viewed English-language series in Netflix history. And to celebrate, the first image of Ortega as Wednesday has been unveiled. It reveals her sitting at her desk typing away at her typewriter.
Creative Visionaries and Stellar Cast Return
Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return to head the series alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton. Returning cast members joining Ortega include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, and Hunter Doohan. Joy Sunday, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, and Joanna Lumley are also back.
The third season also introduces a star-studded group of newcomers. That includes Eva Green, Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Lena Headey, Noah Taylor, and Oscar Morgan. Kennedy Moyer, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance also join the fray.
Darker Mysteries and Expanding Addams Lore
While specific storylines remain protected, the showrunners and creative team have indicated that the new season will broaden the scope of Nevermore Academy. Viewers can expect new faculty and students, deeper exploration of core character dynamics, and the revelation of long-buried Addams family secrets, along with the arrival of additional extended family members.
Last Season…
In season two, Wednesday returns to Nevermore to face a stalker, gruesome murders, and a vision of Enid’s death. Her investigation reveals psychiatric experiments, a crow-controlling killer, and a reanimated clockwork zombie named Isaac. The season ended on a cliffhanger, revealing that Grandmama has been hiding Wednesday’s long-lost aunt, Ophelia.
Highly Anticipated Release Window
With production now officially wrapped, post-production is underway as the series prepares for its next installment. “Wednesday Season 3” is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix in 2027. As soon as the date is revealed, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, watch or rewatch the first two seasons now.
