A brand-new mobile platform is launching worldwide to revolutionize how horror enthusiasts consume serialized suspense. Debuting this October on iOS and Android, Shiver offers bite-sized, vertical-only genre entertainment. Founded by veteran producer Scott Vandiver, the service launches with roughly 40 hours of original programming. It also plans to release a new series every week for subscribers.

Built for Mobile Viewing and Independent Adaptation

Unlike traditional streaming services, Shiver presents its entire catalog exclusively in the 9:16 vertical smartphone format. The platform offers flexible subscription and coin-based payment options to access its growing library. Additionally, Shiver converts traditional indie feature films into short, 50-episode microdramas under two minutes each. Independent filmmakers can give existing feature projects new life without incurring conversion costs.

From Festival Success to Industry Innovation

Vandiver conceived the platform after directing his award-winning thriller series, Knawbone Creek. Despite winning major festival awards, established mobile platforms rejected the darker, thriller-focused material. Rather than abandoning the concept, Vandiver decided to build a dedicated home specifically for horror fans. Naturally, Knawbone Creek will headline the service as a flagship launch title.

“We had made Knawbone Creek, it was winning awards and audiences were responding to the quality, but the existing vertical platforms told us it didn’t fit their programming,” Vandiver said. “I started looking seriously at the marketplace and realized there wasn’t a platform really dedicated to horror and thriller fans in this format. So instead of trying to fit what we’d created somewhere else, I decided to build the platform for it.”

Ambitious Slate and Industry Veterans

Looking ahead, the Studio City company plans to launch up to 20 original series throughout 2027. Industry sales executive Marty Poole will manage acquisitions, while Knawbone Creek writer April Smallwood leads development. Bringing over 25 years of entertainment experience, Vandiver aims to establish Shiver as a major distribution hub. Ultimately, the service aims to empower independent creators while serving modern mobile audiences.

Shiver launches on October 15, 2026. Watch the Knawbone Creek trailer below and get ready to be entertained.
