In a Violent Nature became one of the most surprising breakout horror hits of 2024. Placing the camera behind an unstoppable killer as he stalked through the woods offered a refreshing, hypnotic perspective. So, it was no surprise that the strong audience enthusiasm quickly spawned a highly anticipated direct sequel.
The producers have now officially confirmed the release date via the striking new poster. It creatively incorporates Johnny’s iconic logging hook to spell out the 2/I2 theatrical debut in 2027.
The Original
In the first film, a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods, bringing Johnny back to life. He is a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 70-year-old crime. He rises and hunts down the locket, killing everyone he encounters. You can find our review here.
The Next Chapter
Picking up immediately after the original, Johnny continues his bloody slaughter across an Ontario summer camp. A young outcast camper fights to survive the night alongside his counselor sister and her friends.
Lucas Nguyen, Olivia Scriven, Laurie Babin, Donald MacLean Jr., and Evan Marsh star in the sequel. Fionn Laird, who appeared in “The Institute,” which is gearing up for its second season, also stars. Ry Barrett is returning as the killer, Johnny.
Practical Effects and Graphic Kills Take Center Stage
Original director Chris Nash returned to write the screenplay and co-direct with Nate Wilson. The sequel’s producer, Peter Kuplowsky, has already promised a massive increase in ultraviolence paired with classic slasher traditions.
Kuplowsky previously shared, “With this sequel, fans can expect an exponential increase of the ol’ ultraviolence with a distinct hook, but one that still collides with storied slasher traditions.”
In a Violent Nature 2 slashes its way into theaters nationwide on February 12, 2027. If you missed the original or want to rewatch it, you can stream it now on AMC+, Hulu, Prime Video, and Shudder. You can also buy it on Blu-ray.
