Almost a couple of years ago, I had my opinion changed and my mind blown by Indisruption and Blowfish Studios’ psychological horror, Vlad Circus: Descend Into Madness, which I gave a 10/10, as the story, atmosphere, art, and gameplay hit right. Now, Indisruption and Blowfish Studios are back with the continuation of the heartbreaking tale of horror under the big top, Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus!

Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus follows Josef Petrescu, who survived his execution and is now awake in a hellish nightmare trying to figure out where he was taken and for what reason, while also trying to piece together the events of his past that led up to the tragic fire at the Vlad Circus, for which he was executed.

Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls for Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus, they’re pretty straightforward and not hard to forget thanks to the easy tutorial at the start of the game. Returning players will notice some changes in the mechanics, but overall, it’s relatively the same.

Soundtrack-wise, it’s decent and fits well with the tone of the game and helps with telling the story, as there’s no spoken dialogue. Again, the game’s art is done in 3-D pixels, which I grew to like in the previous Vlad Circus game.

Gameplay is where Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus shines just like the first game. Exploration is key, and old school gaming brainstorming comes into play as you traverse the two worlds Josef travels, in the past and his current situation in this dark, forbidding facility, and what it has to do with his past.

Overall, much like the first game, I really enjoy Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus, with great animation the pixel art, amazing gameplay, and mood-setting atmosphere with the help of the soundtrack. If you’re a fan of the first game, you’ll enjoy this one as well, and just like the first game, I’m giving Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus a 10/10 as well!

Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus comes out on August 25th on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
