Hidden Secrets to Find in Elden Ring

There’s so much left to uncover in Elden Ring, even after you’ve “finished” the game.
The Lands Between is as mysterious as it comes, and it’s filled with secrets. Elden Ring is
scattered with secrets—from entire quests to hidden bosses, Elden Ring weapons, and
sometimes even tidbits about the game’s lore and story details. Finding it for yourself is the fun
part of discovering something new, but let’s be honest, no one wants to miss out on the gossip.
Elden Ring is the kind of open-world game that keeps on giving. With this kind of title offering a
profound experience, you can argue there’s too much to sift through. Every nook and cranny
could be a secret door. Since everyone plays Elden Ring differently, most if not all players will
inevitably miss out on a few things.

1. The Golden Leaves of the Night
If you’ve been thinking of farming Elden Ring runes for the Tarnished, you’re in luck! There’s a
chance every night for players to get a rare weather effect. An indication of this is when gold
leaves start drifting down the sky. Mind you, it’s not just for aesthetic purposes—this is the
blessing of the Erdtree, and it means that you’ll get a slight increase in the Elden Ring Runes
that you’re earning while killing enemies. This effect is best used when you’re in Moghwyn’s
Palace. As long as the gold leaves are falling, the effect is active.

2. Godwyn’s Scattered Body Parts
If you’ve kept up with Elden Ring’s lore while steamrolling your way through the bosses, then
you’ll know that Godwyn was the first to fall among the Elden royalty—or, more specifically, he

was assassinated. This led his mother, Marika, to destroy the Elden Ring. But did you know that
he didn’t fully die? For some reason, only his soul was “killed,” but his body continued to exist in
the present, festering in the nooks and crannies of Lands Between.

One of his most notable appearances in the game is on his throne, which you can find in the
Deeproot Depths. Those who have fallen deep into Stormveil Castle's perforations might have
seen something horrific. In the cavernous abyss, you’ll find Godwyn’s deformed head and face
looking terrifyingly so. Why or how this happened is still a question mark above players’ heads,
but it’s a neat piece of secret to find that adds another layer of depth to Elden Ring’s story.

3. Weather Affects Your Spell Damage
It’s not exactly the most well-kept secret, but the weather in Lands Between affects the overall
potency of your spells. In other words, your spell damage output adjusts accordingly to the
weather. For example, if it’s raining, you’ll find that using lightning sorcery is more effective. On
the other hand, the damage of fire spells is diminished.

Weather also affects your character’s resistance to these spell types. Let’s use rain once more
as an example; if there’s a downpour, you’ll take more damage from lightning spells, but you’ll
be more resistant to fire spells simultaneously. The experts have gathered that there’s only a
10% change, so it’s not too significant. But it’s still a quirk that can make a substantial difference
when you’re doing long fights, especially if you have many spells up your sleeve.

4. There’s Another Use for Margit’s Shackle
Margit’s Shackle is one of those items that players tend to miss, and that’s unfortunate,
considering that it makes fighting the first demi-god boss a lot easier. That’s because it can hold
down Margit, the Fell Omen, for a few seconds, giving you a window to charge in for the attack.
You can also stun him to get some critical heavy damage in. You can purchase Margit’s
Shackle from Patches—an NPC known in the previous FromSoftware games.

While Margit’s Shackle is a neat trinket when going head-to-head with Margit himself, it’s handy
for another thing. You can use Margit’s Shackle to reveal hidden doors in a small radius. It’s a
pretty neat trick if you’re thinking of looking to discover the secrets of Elden Ring on your own.
However, note that this only works on secret doors.

5. Changing Maidens is Possible
If you’re scared of splitting up with your initial maiden because you could be maidenless, you
need not fret. Despite the game not telling its players, changing your maidens in Elden Ring is
possible. To do so, you’ll have to complete one of the most challenging questlines in the game.

Melina is the original finger maiden, but say you want to swap her with Hyetta. You can do so by
completing her questline and becoming the Lord of the Frenzied Flame. Changing your maiden
essentially changes the Tarnished’s motives and reasons for their adventure. If you choose to
become the Lord of the Frenzied Flame, you’ll burn the world along the mistakes of the Greater
Will. Plus, once Hyetta becomes your maiden, you’ll lose Melina and become your enemy.

Plenty of Secrets Are Still Uncovered

Other secrets still haven’t been discovered in the Lands Between, whether that be a secret
Elden Ring weapons or items. If you want to uncover everything on your own, be prepared to
track them down because it can be time-consuming. Still, we hope our guide has helped you
make some progress in that regard!
