Fans may be surprised to learn that Fox has renewed Wayward Pines for season 2. 10 new episodes have been order for the show, which is set to premiere in the summer of 2016.
Fans assumed that series was finished when many of the main characters, including the main character Ethan, played by Matt Dillon, were killed in the finale. The second season will pick up where the first season ended, with the town under the control of the youth, with no adults left insight, which could make for interesting story. In the first season, we saw Ethan (Dillon) wake in the hospital in the strange town of Wayward Pines. We watched as Dillon tried to escape the town, surrounded by huge walls and we learned that the people of the town may be the only humans left on Earth. Outside the walls hungry creatures, decedents of what was once the human race, are waiting. When a group tries to escape the town part of the wall came down, letting the creatures inside.
Wayward Pines’s creator and showrunner Chad Hodges will not be returning for the second season. M. Night Shyamalan will serve as executive producer once again, along side Donald De Line, Ashwin Rajan, Mark Friedman and Blake Crouch, who wrote he books that series is based on.
“Wayward Pines’ was a huge hit for us this past summer, we were absolutely blown away by the mysterious and surprising world that Night and his team created, and the twisting-and-turning storytelling that drew viewers in from day one.” said David Madden, president of entertainment for Fox. “Season two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can’t wait for our fans to continue that ride next year.”
