Netflix is turning out original films and series like they are going our of style. They’re next original series is Tidelands, a crime drama that centers on a former criminal who returns home to the sleepy little town of Orphelin Bay.
The series begins with the body of a local washes up on shore, setting off a chain of events that soon make the make the main character realize that the residents of Orphelin Bay are not villagers at all, but are monsters, half human and half siren, that call refer to themselves as “Tidelanders”.
Production is set to begin in 2018 in Queensland. Tracey Robertson, co-creator and co-executive producer, explained why the northern state is the perfect setting for the series in a recent interview.

The primeval landscapes of Queensland are a perfect setting to the story of betrayal, small townsecrets, [and] ancient mythology.”Robertson stated.
