Over the past several decades several attempts have been made to remake the 1954 ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’. Now it seems Universal may actually make it happen.
The word is Scarlett Johanson is the target actress wanted to play the lead role of Kay, the object of the creature’s affection. Larger Than Life and Strike Entertainment will be producing the new film written by Jeff Blitz, Tedi Sarafian, Gary Ross and Paul Schering.
Universal stated last year that they are making a new franchise with all the classic Universal monsters. ‘Dracula Untold’ (2014), starring Luke Evans, was the first of the new series with a shared universe (think Marvel). The next movie in line will be a new version of the Mummy. We will keep you posted as more details develop.
