The latest ‘Ash VS. Evil Dead’ teaser trailer has just been released, and it’s got me very excited.The ‘Ash VS. Evil Dead’ series, coming to STARZ this Fall, is picking up speed. The 10 episode series will star Bruce Campbell, who was also the star of the ‘Evil Dead’ movie franchise, along with ‘Xena’ and ‘Salem’ beauty Lucy Lawless, Mimi Rogers (The Wedding Ringer),Ray Santiago (Suburban Gothic), Hemky Madera (Blue Bloods) and ‘Sleepy Hollow’ actress Jill Marie Jones. The original ‘Evil Dead’ filmmaker, Sam Raimi. will sereve as executive producer and writer, along side Rob Tapert and Craig DiGregorio, who will also serve as showrunner. The show is already in production and is currently filming in New Zealand.
Ash, a charismatic badass, kicked deadite ass with a chainsaw for a hand in the ‘Evil Dead’ movie Franchise. Now He’s back, an aging ladies man working at the local S-Mart, who once again must open up a can of whoop ass and save the world, with a little help from his friends.
Dana DeLorenzo will play Kelly Maxwell, a wild child trying to make up for her past and looking for a new type of family. The character of Pablo Bolivar will be played by Ray Santiago. Pablo is an idealistic young man who becomes like a son to Ash. Even when Ash doesn’t believe in himself, Pablo does.
Campbell recently had this to say about the relationship between Ash, Kelly and Pablo, “They’re supposed to be two very good counterparts. One is a male-bonding situation; the other is a father-figure deal, since Ash could have a daughter the same age as this character. Hopefully we’ll pull Ash out of his loner-veteran mode and get him back into being a human being again.”
Actress Jill Marie Jones will be playing a State Trooper Amanda Fisher, who suspects Ash had a role in her partner’s death. When she learns the truth about Ash and the deadites, she joins Ash in his mission. You may recognize Jones from her role as Cynthia Irving on the series ‘Sleepy Hallow’.
Many of the details of Lucy Lawless’ role have not been announced at this point, but we do know that her character’s name is Ruby and she believes that Ash is behind the recent evil outbreaks. Campbell had this to say about Lawless:
“We just added her to our cast, and I got to tell you, I couldn’t be happier. Some actors you work with and you know that you’re going to fail the chemistry test. There are some that you know you won’t fail it. She’s great, I worked with her a lot in the ‘Xena’ days, and it’s great to have her on ‘Ash Vs. Evil Dead’.”
Mimi Rogers will be playing the role of Suzy Maxwell, a woman who is reunited with her daughter after a terrible accident.
‘Ash VS. Evil Dead’ will premier this October and it’s going to be groovy baby!
