As summer heats up our thoughts begin to drift to the water, the beach and the local swimming holes. This summer don’t forget to check out these water related creature features.
Jaws (1975)
‘Jaws’ is the one of the most famous creature features. 40 years after it’s release it still remains a loved classic. A huge Great White shark is stalking the waters around Amity Island. The police chief, a scientist and a shark hunter set out to hunt down the behemoth.

Deep Blue Sea (1999)
This summer shark thriller follows a group of scientists experimenting on sharks. One the side effects of the testing is that the sharks are becoming smarter, a lot smarter. Of course, these sharks don’t want to be tested on and with their higher intelligence, things will soon go very wrong for the scientists.

Piranha 3D (2010)
An underwater tremor sets free a school of prehistoric Piranha. It’s up to the local police and a group of strangers banding together to save the lake’s party goers from becoming fish-food.

Lake Placid (1999)
Giant Crocodiles, Betty White and some great moments of comedy, what’s not to love?

Anaconda (1997)
A team documentary filmmakers travelling down the Amazon River are taken hostage by an unhinged hunter who hunting the trophy of a lifetime, a giant snake. The team are now hostages and struggling to survive their captor and the giant Anaconda.
Personally, I really like ‘Anaconda’. I thought it was a good story and at the time (1997) the effects were top notch.

Deep Rising (1998)
When a group of hijackers seize a luxury ocean liner, they find more than they’re bargaining for, a group of man eating sea creatures have already taken of the ship.

Open Water (2003)
Two scuba divers are abandoned by their tour boat out in the ocean. The two must find away to survive the open waters and the sharks that are staulking them.

Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
A group of scientists arrive in the Amazon to find a strange prehistoric creature, in hopes of capturing him to study.

Mega Piranha (2010)
A mutant strain of giant piranha have escaped from the Amazon and are making their way to Florida.

Sharktapus (2010)
In this SyFy original agroup of scientist are out to capture or kill a giant half-shark, half-octopus, created by the government.

Sharknado (2013)
Fin fights to reach his ex-wife and kids during a hurricane, the rising waters are teaming with sharks. The storm spawns tornadoes that have picked up sharks and as Fin reaches his family, the tornadoes rain down live sharks on LA. ‘Sharknado’ is known for its star studded cameos.
