Back in April we reported that a remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis’ 1963 ‘Blood Feast’was in the works. We now have new information about the remake.
German director Marcel Walz (Plastic) will be stepping into Lewis’ shoes as director of the new movie. Robert Rusler will be playing the lead role of Fuad Ramses, a family man who works nights at a museum of ancient Egyptian culture. Ramses is drawn to an ancient statue representing the goddess Ishtar. She begins the speak to him in visions. Eventually he gives in and his life becomes filled with murder and cannibalism. He starts to prepare a feast for the goddess, with offerings of organs and intestines of human sacrifices drenched in blood. Fuad slips further into madness and becomes a puppet of Ishtar, who desires the sacrifice of Fuad’s wife and daughter.
Lewis, nicknamed the “Godfather of Gore”, delivered one of the most gore filled movies on record with ‘Blood Feast’. Even after 52 years ‘Blood Feast’ still has loyal fan base.
