Dawn Brown, who worked on projects including ‘Alice in Wonderland’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘The Hunger Games’, has begun her own stop animation series, ‘House of Monsters’. The series can be best described as the Universal Monsters meets ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. Brown serves as writer, director and animator for the series. Warren Masner joins Brown as producer as well as a writer. Masner has provided concepts and designs, for example, he designed Bumblebee for the ‘Transformers’ movies. He also designed Superman’s suit in ‘Man of Steel’.
The voice of Doctor Gaulstone, the narrator, should sound very familiar, it’s none other than Christopher Lloyd. Lloyd played the unforgettable role of Doc Brown in ‘Back to the Future’ as well as many other notable roles in his career.
The first two episodes of ‘House of Monsters’ debuted on Vimeo on Demand on July 28th, 2015 and will later expand to other distributors. I watched episode one and two earlier today. I found them quite entertaining. The stories were clever and unique. The animation was smooth and the characters well designed. Over all, I was impressed and I look forward to seeing more.
