‘Aliens’, ‘AVP’ and ‘Tremors’ are just a few of the movies Alec Gillis and his special effects company Amalgamated Dynamics (StudioADI) have worked on. Now Gillis has added writer and director to his resume.
In ‘Harbinger Down’ a group of graduate students are in route to the Bering Sea to study the effects of global warming on a pod of Orcas, when the ship’s crew dredges up the remains of a Soviet space wreckage containing the frozen remains of a cosmonaut. What the crew does not know is that the Russians had experimented with tarigrades, microscopic creatures that can withstand the effects of space. The creatures survived, but were effected by the radiation in space. Now the crew has been exposed to the mutated microscopic beings.
‘Harbinger Down’ stars ‘Aliens’ actor Lance Henriksen, Matt Winston (A.I. Artificial Intelligence), Giovonnie Samuels (Freedom Writers), Winston James Francis (Little Boy) and ‘Whiplash’ actress Camille Balsamo, among others.
With Gillis’ talent for special effects, ‘Harbinger Down’ is guaranteed to look fantastic. Luckily, it’s now out on DVD.
