Neil Gaiman, the creator of the ‘Sandman’ graphic novel, is getting his own anthology TV series, ‘Likely Stories’. The series will explore four of Gaiman’s short stories, which ones it will be has not been announced. ‘Likely Stories’ will begin production this month. Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard will be directing the series. It will be produced by the London based independent film company, Sid Gentle Films.
Gaiman’s book American Gods is also being adapted into a television series. ‘American Gods’ combines the legends of various religions and mythology and witnesses a battle between deities. Starz is currently looking for the right leading man for ‘American Gods’, to play the character Shadow Moon. Shadow Moon, the main character of the novel, is an ex-convict and a bodyguard of Mr. Wednesday, the incarnation of the Norse God Odin. It’s hinted that Shadow Moon is actually the reincarnation of Baldr, the Norse God of light.
