A new trailer has been released for the upcoming supernatural film ‘The Forest’. The film is set in the real Aokigahara forest. Most of you have probably heard of Japan’s notorious forest, often referred to as the “Suicide Forest’. The fourteen square miles of land, at the base Mount Fuji, is a popular site for people to commit suicide. The suicides have become such an issue that the government has put signs urging people not to take their lives and sending officials in to the forest periodically to search for campers and the dead, on average finding 100 bodies each year. Countless more victims are lost to the forest, never to be found. Locals claim that the area is filled with spirits and if you wonder off the path, you might never be seen again.

The film, directed by Jason Zada, stars Taylor Kinney (Zero Dark Thirty) and ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Natalie Dormer, who plays a twin whose sister disappears into the “Suicide Forest”. Dormer’s character travels to Japan in search of her sister. She enters the Aokigahara forest, guided by Aiden (Kinney). The two will not only have to face the fact that it might be to late to save the sister, but also face the wrath of the tormented souls of those who have committed suicide there. Now, not only are they trying to locate the sister, they will have to find away to survive the forest and spirits themselves.
