Horror shows have become very popular lately, with series like ‘Scream’ and ‘Hannibal’ paving the way for other horror related shows. The latest series rooted in the horror genre, will be coming to ABC Family. ‘Dead of Summer’, an ’80s inspired series, is from Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, creators of ‘Once Upon a Time’, along with writer Ian Goldberg. The three will pen the script for this supernatural series, as well as serve as executive producers.

The series is set in the late 1980s, during summer break at the idyllic summer Camp Clearwater. Clearwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens and soon the camp’s fun turns into a horrible nightmare.

There is no word when at this time when the series will premiere, but we can expect it some time in 2016. By the time ‘Dead of Summer’ premieres, ABC Family will have been renamed ‘Freeform’.
