The Slasher, a new upcoming horror film, has begun their Indiegogo campaign to help fund their project. The film, written by Patrick Rudek, has the feel of the cult classics from the 1970’s and 1980’s, like Halloween and and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film will also pay homage to the masters of horror, such as George Romero, John Carpenter and Wes Craven.
Rudek explains that “There is no big studio or budget at our disposal, but a great story, cast and team. It will be a clever, well-told horror movie.”
Emmy award-winner Bill Oberst Jr. has been cast as the film’s killer, John Romero. The Slasher centers on Romero, convicted of multiple murders and committed to a mental institution for the criminally insane, where he was sentenced to live out his days. The audience meets Romero twenty years earlier, at the time he was convicted, then jumps forward to the appearance of Dr. Michael Carpenter, the doctor who wrote the bestselling book about Romero’s life, on a talk show along side Fred Craven, the director who adapted Carpenter’s book into a film. The show takes place on the twenty-year anniversary of the murders Romero committed. The men are there to promote the sequel of the blockbuster. Romero escapes the institution seeking revenge against the two men and their families.
The crowdfunding campaign allows investors to serve as produces for the film and receive great perks, including DVDs, posters and film credits. Visit The Slasher website and follow the film on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates.
