We reported back in November the Vin Diesel announced there is a new film and TV series in the works for the Riddick franchise. He has now stated that the film will be an origin story and will go back to Furya where his character was born. The film will be co-written by David Twohy, who penned the scripts for the first three films. The movie will begin filming in early 2017.
On Wednesday Diesel signed multi-year, first-look deal with Universal Television through his company One Race Productions for his Riddick TV series. Diesel intends to title his series “Merc City” and for the series to explore the Merc people and the Bounty Hunters of the Riddick universe.
