The movie, set in the 1630’s, takes place in New England, years before the Salem witch trials of 1692. A farmer has been cast out of a colonial plantation, along with his family. They are forced to move to a remote piece of land bordered by a forest, rumored to be the home of witches and dark magic. Soon, strange things begin to occur, animals act oddly and crops wilt and a child disappears, only to return possessed. As things worsen, everyone begins to accuse the teenage daughter of being the source of the trouble. As the family’s situation continues to worsen, everyone finds their faith, strength and family bonds tested.
The Witch will arrive in US theaters on February 19th.
