There have been rumors circulating for awhile that our favorite green ghost, Slimer, will be returning for the new female driven remake of Ghostbusters. An IMDb creditor appeared that seemed to confirm the rumors, but then the film’s director Paul Feig tweeted that the rumor was not true. Now, Ghosbusters actor Michael K. Williams has confirmed that the whispers are absolutely true during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“I’m not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate was really dope. But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I’m in a scene with Slimer! I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true.”
I can’t say we’re surprised. With Hi-C’s Ecto Coolers and the new Hostess’ green Slimer themed Twinkies hitting shelves it was clear that the always hungry green guy was back.
In the same interview Williams revealed his role in Ghostbuster, which opens in theaters July 15th.
“I play the FBI agent who works for the mayor. Our whole thing is, we’re going to tell people it was a flash in the sky and ‘Run along little women with your ghosts, we got this.”
In Director Paul Feig’s new version of the 1984 classic dead criminals from all of New York’s dark history have returned to stir up trouble in The Big Apple. SNL actor Neil Casey will play the role of the main ghostly villain , who raises a ghost army of the city’s most notorious criminals throughout history. The city’s only hope is the Ghostbusters, a team of women ready to come to the rescue.
Williams stars along side Melissa McCarthy, Kristern Wiig, Kate MccKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth, with cameos by many of the original film’s stars, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver.
