After a bidding war, MGM has snagged the rights to Deeper, the upcoming supernatural thriller starring Bradley Cooper, according to Variety.
The film, directed by Kornel Mundruczo (White Gods) and penned by Max Landis, centers on a former astronaut (Cooper) hired to pilot a submersible to the deepest point of the ocean. As the submersible descends, supernatural events begin to occur.
Deeper has been described as having elements similar to the film Gravity and it has been said that it may be a contender at next year’s Oscars.
Landis will produce along side David Goyer and Addictive Pictures. The film is expected to begin production in late 2016 or early 2017.
