After nearly thirty years the 1988 classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space is getting its own television series. It’s no surprise, every semi-popular horror is getting remake, reboots, remakes and television adaptions these days. What makes the new series special? Killer Klown’s original director and co-writer Stephen Chiodo is back to direct the series.
Chiodo appeared on the Movie Crypt Podcast and had this to say about the series:
Right now, we are currently pursuing a long arch series for cable. We wondered, should we do a sequel to the first one or do we do a remake? We came up with a ‘requel’ -it’ a sequel and a remake. We’ve been devolving this for a while. It’s a trilogy in four parts, and it really follows the continuing adventures of new people who are experiencing this phenomenon of a Klown invasion, and once in a while you see some of the old guys pop up and hear their stories – find out what happened over the last 25 years. It’s fucking great.
Not only are the Killer Klowns getting a television series, its also getting a sequel, set to premiere in 2018. Chiodo will also be directing the horror-comedy’s sequel, titled The Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space In 3D. Set 30 years after the Klowns’ first attack on Earth, they’re back and it’s up to a new generation to stop them.
When the premiere dates are announced we will give an update.
